Homeschool Planner & Records

Homeschool Planner & Records — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

Homeschool Planner & Records ("the app", called "Homeschool" on your device) is a planner and record keeper for homeschooling families, published by Chinese Powered ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and by whom. The short version: we run no servers and hold no account data. Your children's records stay on your device. The only third-party data collection comes from Google's advertising SDK in the free version, and from Apple or Google when you buy Homeschool Pro, as described below.

Data stored on your device only

Everything you enter — students' names, grade levels and birth dates (if you enter them), school information, subjects and lessons, lesson grades and report-card comments, attendance marks, hours, activities, day notes, books, work-sample photos, transcript courses, test scores, awards and extracurriculars, and your settings — is saved in the app's own storage on your device. We never see it; it is not uploaded anywhere by us. Deleting the app deletes this data.

It may be included in your phone's own device backups (iCloud device backup on iPhone and iPad, Android Auto Backup on Android), which follow your Apple or Google backup settings. Android Auto Backup leaves out work-sample photos, to stay within Android's size limit; a backup file from the app includes them.

The app has no accounts and no sign-in.

Backup files

A backup file is created only when you make one (More › Backup & restore). It contains your records and, unless you switch them off, your work-sample photos, and it is saved or sent wherever you choose: Files, Google Drive, email or anywhere else your device offers. We never receive it. The file is not encrypted, so anyone who has it can read it; keep it somewhere private. Restoring a backup replaces the records on the device with the ones in the file.

Children's information

The app is used by parents and teachers to keep homeschool records. Children don't have accounts. Information about children, such as their names, grades, lessons, books and photos of their work, is entered by the parent or teacher and stays on the device. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app is not directed to children.

Camera and photos

The camera and your photos are used for one purpose: adding work samples to a child's portfolio, from Work samples, a lesson or a logged activity. The app asks for camera permission the first time you take a photo; choosing an existing photo opens the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photo you pick. Photos are scaled down and copied into the app's storage on the device. They are never uploaded.

Notifications

If you keep reminders on, the app schedules local notifications on your device: on school days, at the time you choose, saying what's planned (for example "Today: 5 lessons for Emma"), and on Sunday afternoons a recap of the week's lessons and hours. Because the text can include your children's names, it may appear on your lock screen. Nothing is sent until you allow notifications for the app; the notifications are created on the device, and no push-notification server is involved.

Advertising (free version only)

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob: a banner at the foot of the main screens, optional rewarded videos you can choose to watch to unlock a PDF or CSV export, and an occasional full-screen (interstitial) ad at a natural break. When an ad is requested, Google's SDK may collect device information such as advertising identifiers, IP address and approximate location derived from it, ad-interaction data and diagnostics, used for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. None of your records, your children's information or your photos are passed to the ad SDK.

Purchases (App Store / Google Play)

Homeschool Pro is sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play, which process the payment — we never see your payment details or receive your name or email. The app checks your purchase with the store directly on your device, including when you restore purchases. No third-party purchase service is involved, and we run no server that receives receipts. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies cover the data they process for purchases.

Analytics

The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. We don't track how you use it. (Apple and Google may show developers aggregate statistics, such as download counts, and crash reports from people who chose to share them with developers in their device settings.)

State requirement information

The state summaries and suggested targets in the app are general information from public sources, each linked to its source. They are informational, not legal advice. The state you pick is stored only on your device.
